Year 1 - Squirrels and Frogs

Summer Term 2018

We trust you had a happy holiday and welcome back to the final term in Year 1!  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support.  We have really enjoyed teaching the children and have been so pleased with the progress they have made.

Maths

In Maths we will be focusing on multiplication (2’, 5’s and 10’s), fractions and finding out about position and movement in Geometry.

English

We are using our school trip to Colchester Zoo to help us plan and write recounts.

Science

We will be learning about animals, including humans and linking this to our topic work.  In the second half of the term, we will be looking at the weather, this time with a focus on spring and summer.

PE lessons

As the weather improves will be going outside during some lessons so please ensure the children have tracksuit bottoms and tops.

Frogs: Monday and Wednesday

Squirrels: Tuesday and Thursdays.

 Spellings and Homework

Spellings and homework will be handed out on a Wednesday. The homework will be based around the work that the children have undertaken during that particular week in school. Please return homework and spelling books by the following Tuesday. Spellings will be tested on Wednesdays.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Year 1 Team,

Mrs Blanking, Mrs Monkhouse, Miss Wade and Miss Cunningham
